La Boqueria - Food Fiesta in Barcelona

Barcelona, what do most people think of when they think of this Iberian city? Nightlife? Architecture? Beach? Summer? Food...?

Well, I thought of food, it's sad I know, but I did. I love food. Some people are addicted to alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, shopping, you name it. But my addiction is food, which is also the reason why I have put on 5Kgs during our travels.

Lucky this was our last stop on our 4 and a half month holiday that took us from NZ over Australia to Africa and then finally to Europe. It soon became apparent that there is no better place to visit than Spain to soothe my addiction to food. It also became apparent that my diet to loose all the weight I've put on was just around the corner. So it was time to eat, and eat I was going to do!

In this post I am going to mention the number 1 place in Barcelona when it comes to food: La Boqueria. La Boqueria is Barcelona's central food market, accessible directly from the busy Ramblas.

The moment you take a step into the market you will be confronted with a vast array of colours of food. Never in my life have I seen such great food in a market. Not to mention the fruit drinks they offer. They are absolutely mouth watering, and when you are dripping with sweat from the summer heat you need one of those cold refreshing drinks.

To get a full meal at these markets you will only need about 10 euro. Yum! A must on your trip to Barcelona. Have a look at the photos of the burritos, cheese, fruits, crepes, meats, you name it, this market has choice.

It's hard to describe in words how delicious the stuff here really is, so I will just leave you by saying that my food addiction was definitely satisfied and I am now on my diet to lose those 5kgs I have gained...
